Nature vs. Nurture
I believe nature has a bigger influence on individuals than nurture does. You can be raised one way, and end up completely different than you were taught. With nature you can be raised in any way yet you are in some way going to act the same as every male or female out there. There are just some things you can't help, such as sexual attractment. Your parents teach you to find the one you love and save yourself for that one person, and in some cases people do. The human nature is to satisfy your needs and sexual wants. There are a lot of people out there that are raised to be Christian and practice celibacy yet some are bound to veer off that path, only because they seek that satisfaction.

Wow! That is some amazing insight!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. That is a good argument. But what about the number of outliers? There are a fair number of people who decide to go against their nature to better (or worsen) themselves, such as an alcoholic becoming sober. How would you suggest such an event occuring in defense of nature argument?
(No offense meant. I ask purely out of curiousity. And read chapter 5 I understand that it doesn't always come across that way...>_>)
